As a literary agent I specialize in genre fiction--meaning romance, fantasy, science fiction, horror, mysteries, suspense, thrillers, etc.--as well as children's middle-grade and young-adult books.
My job, and I love it, is to find super-talented writers with unrealized publishing dreams and help make those dreams come true.
But because I was getting nearly 2,000 queries every month, I have changed the way I handle queries and submissions. First, I hired a fantastic assistant, Pam van Hylckama Vlieg (Pronounced vahn HILL-comma VLEEG). You may recognize her as the amazing Bookalicious Pam--one of the top YA book review bloggers in the country found on the web at bookalicio.us. Pam and I will consider UNSOLICITED QUERIES in science fiction, fantasy, middle grade, and young adult fiction if you email query us with the equivalent of the first 10 double-spaced pages (no prologues) and a very brief synopsis (1-2 pages) at queryagentsavant@gmail.com. For all the other genres I represent, I will only take material from writers I meet at conferences or writers who are referred to me by someone I know in the publishing profession (my clients, other agents, editors, etc.)
An alternative? Our associate agents, Kat Salazar and Lindsey Clemons, are actively building their lists and are eager to accept queries in the areas they represent. Check out their bios and instructions at www.larsenpomada.com.
